Leigh Blashki

Leigh has practiced yoga and meditation since 1968. He was the Founder of the Australian Institute of Yoga Therapy and has trained yoga teachers since 2000 and yoga therapists since 2006. Leigh is often described as the ‘father of yoga therapy in Australia’ and in recent years he has developed a reputation as a leader in the fields of Yoga (and meditation), Yoga Therapy and is sort-after presenter nationally and internationally.

Leigh is an IAYT Certified Yoga Therapist, Yoga Australia Senior Registered Teacher, AAYT Registered Yoga Therapist, Certified iRest Teacher and has qualifications in Counselling and Health Sciences. Leigh has 38 years’ experience as a Yoga teacher and 25 years as a Yoga Therapist. He has served on the International Association of Yoga Therapists (IAYT) Standards and Accreditation Committees and is currently a member of their Advisory Council and the Certification Committee. From 2010 to 2014 Leigh served Yoga Australia in the roles of Vice-President and President (in turn) and was the founding secretary of the AAYT. He also serves as an advisor to Yoga Australia and AAYT.
