Module Content

This Module will develop the tools essential to practice as a Yoga Therapist. It will include a focus on the following:

  • Developing skills to conduct holistic, integrative client assessments for Yoga Therapy
  • The development of therapeutic counselling skills relevant to the practice of Yoga Therapy
  • Crisis management skills for Yoga Therapy
  • Skills in therapeutic rapport and healthy therapeutic relationships
  • Skills in treatment planning based on the findings ascertained from individual client assessments
  • Strategies to enhance self motivation and personal efficacy for clients of Yoga Therapy
  • Consideration of the role of both Yoga Therapy groups and individual Yoga Therapy
  • Therapeutic group skills relevant to providing Yoga Therapy groups
  • Applying the ethical guidelines at the heart of Yoga to the profession of Yoga Therapy
  • An exploration of various professional practice issues relevant to Yoga Therapy
  • A sound understanding of ethical practice in the profession of Yoga Therapy
  • A thorough understanding of the Scope of Practice for Yoga Therapists, and the relevant industry standards
  • Consideration of important factors in providing Yoga Therapy to diverse client populations
  • Strategies for communicating with other health professionals to enhance client care
  • Exploring differing learning styles amongst clients of Yoga Therapy, and how to tailor interventions to the clients learning style
  • Motivational strategies to assist clients to prioritise their Yoga Therapy program

This Module can be taken as a stand alone professional development program, or it can be taken as part of the complete Graduate Certificate in Yoga Therapy qualification. Module 1 must be undertaken as a pre-requisite for this and all other Modules.


In order to receive the qualification related to this Module students will be required to successfully complete the following tasks, within the time period allocated. This is a competency based unit, so students need to only provide evidence of competency with the tasks below in order to receive the qualification. In the circumstance where competency is not demonstrated on first submission, re-submission will be possible.

Assessment for each of the Modules in the AIYT GCYT involves the following:

  • Full attendance at all face to face classes *
  • Full attendance at all live webinars *
  • Undertaking pre and post lecture study tasks as directed
  • Successful completion and submission of reflective journal questions following all classes and webinars
  • Successful completion of two Case Studies relevant to this Module
  • One other written assessment task as specified

* Where any face to face or live webinar sessions are missed (under exceptional circumstances only) the student will be required to complete adequate ‘make up’ tasks as set by the teacher for that class, including but not limited to viewing of any recordings of the class session (where available), and answering reflective questions set by the teacher. An additional cost will be incurred by the student for these sessions.

Module Fee

The fee for this Module is $1950, which involves 100+ hours of training, including:

  • 70 hours of classes (face to face and online)
  • access to the online learning portal
  • 2 hours of individual Mentoring with your Program Mentor
  • resources to facilitate 30+ hours of self-directed learning
  • reading material and other learning tools
  • assessment of your written work
  • partial completion of the Australian Institute of Yoga Therapy, Graduate Certificate in Yoga Therapy program


The requirements in order to register for this unit are:

  • successful completion of Module 1 in the Graduate Certificate in Yoga Therapy program
  • agreement to adhere to the AIYT Student Code of Conduct
  • all other requirements as specified in the 'GCYT Student Requirements'

Payment for the Module:

  • a payment deposit of $650 is required to secure your place in the program. This deposit is non-refundable, but it can be transferred to another Module if you cancel in writing at least 7 days prior to the Module commencing. If you cancel later than that time your deposit cannot be transferred or refunded
  • the balance of payment for the Module is required at least 7 days prior to the Module commencing. Pre-learning material will be forwarded to you once you have made full payment for the Module
  • any payment made will be forfeited if you withdraw once the Module has commenced
